My -=1st=- Blog post.... Blah Blah Blah

Well,
If you've googled mathlizard, you can probably see I like to try new things... Of course, no one said anything about deleting the things I don't use, so, I guess that's what I do... (not the best, but I never seem to find time or turn out forgetting I even signed up for stuff) So, Anyways....
(oh yeah, and I did come up with the name mathlizard first!)
Stuff to do....
I think I'll try and post some tutorials on various software to help people out.
I found a boatload of really nice software for... um.... free...
(argh, and no, I ain't no pirate- this stuff is all OpenSource)
Here's my top ten:
1.Blender 3d- animation software
This software is what I'm probably going to do some video blogging/tutorials on (mainly because most of my friends can't make heads or tales of it...
2. Open Office- Office Suite
The best way to get Microsoft Office tools without Microsoft Office. Includes stuff to make Powerpoints, Word Documents (.doc), Spread Sheets (.xml) and other cool things...
3. MP3DirectCut-MP3 recorder
Fast way to record anything you hear on your computer (or maybe hookup a record player and convert vinyls) Directly to mp3 (thus the name) I downloaded it before the big watermark was splotched. It's version 1.37 (you might need to search a bit to get a good download)
4. ISOBuster-DVD/CD
Get those files off that scratched CD/DVD!
5. AVIDemux-DVD/VCD
(make sure you get the Gimp skin-comes with the Gimp - which is kindof like adobe Photoshop) this lets you convert DVD's/ VCD's to AVI. Very useful. I used it to get footage from a wedding from VCD (talk about HARD!)
6.Trillian-Chat
Tired of switching between chat services? Try this one as a multi chat AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, etc. + it checks your email!
7. Firefox-Browser
fast, fun and free web browser. I currently have the ifox Smooth Theme with tab mix plus and chatzilla on there...
8. Skype-Phone
Right now (as of 6.04.06 - until 2007) you can call anyone in the US and Canada for free via Skype, (just dial +1 before the Phone Number: +1 areacode1234567)
9.Google Earth
See your house from satellite (did I spell it right?) photos. :D fun...
10. Avid Free Dv-Video Editor
Not exactly perfect, but a WHOLE lot better than Windows Movie Maker! (but I think iMovie is somewhere inbetween... Haven't tried Cinelerra for Linux yet - holler over here if YOU have)
Oh yeah, if you do create something in AVID freedv and want to export it/edit it in a different program, you'll need to do a little work on the files. (copy/rename the OMF media files in OMFI media files folder to a .DV extension (it works :D). Unfortunately, audio resyncronization is necessary...

I think that's it...
